Agentic AI in Finance: Can Finance Stay in Control?

March 27, 2026

The advent of ChatGPT ushered in a level of excitement, curiosity and innovation that has not been seen in the finance function since the introduction of the spreadsheet. However, after an initial wave of trials, there is now a growing sense that experimentation has run its course, and attention is shifting from AI that informs decisions to AI agents that act on them. It’s a shift that finance cannot ignore.

As excitement builds, many CFOs also recognise that agentic AI introduces new risks. Enthusiasm is increasingly tempered by concerns that ungoverned use could undermine the trustworthiness of reporting and weaken established controls and governance.

So the crucial question is: How can finance stay in control?

In this 30-minute webinar, Gary Simon, CEO of FSN and Leader of the Modern Finance Forum on LinkedIn will interview Ryan Van Hatten, COO and formerly CFO at Prophix Software. Together they will explore the latest developments in agentic AI, including the pressing issue of AI governance, what limits to place on the use of autonomous agents and how to divide work between AI agents and human labour.

Ryan is a strategic, finance and operations leader with over 20 years’ experience at Prophix having previously held roles in services, operations and finance. He was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2016 where he oversaw record revenue growth and numerous mergers and acquisitions. Since 2024, he has served as Chief Operating Officer, focusing on Revenue Operations and expanding Prophix’s international presence.
