The Modern Finance Forum on LinkedIn

The “FSN Modern Finance Forum” on LinkedIn provides finance professionals around the globe with the latest market developments, vital analysis and deep insights about key developments and trends affecting the finance function now and in the future.

Our purpose is to help drive the modern finance agenda, with authoritative, compelling and evidence-based research that points to the systems, process, technology and organisational challenges as finance professionals seek to transition from their traditional roles steeped in financial stewardship and corporate governance to true business partner, innovator, advisor, strategist and catalyst for change.

Since its formation in 2012 the group has expanded exponentially and now has nearly 53,000 members making it one of the top groups globally, and certainly the most active, for senior finance professionals in industry, commerce and the public sector. Around a half of all applications to join the Modern Finance Forum on LinkedIn are refused. Our commitment to tight moderation ensures that the forum continues to attract the best talent in the finance community and remains spam free.

Discussions in the LinkedIn forum are notable for the quality of the debates, the sharing of helpful ideas and the respectful exchange of views enriched by the truly international makeup of its membership.

Our research

Our research is crowd-sourced exclusively from the members of the Modern Finance Forum. We do not incentivise or reward members who respond to our research surveys, they simply take part because they want to. All participants receive a copy of the full research findings and conclusions to discuss and debate with their colleagues.

The Innovation Showcase

Innovation is central to the success of the modern finance function yet earlier FSN research, identifies that only 6% of CFOs understand the technologies available to them, only 37% know what solutions are available in the market and only 25% of CFOs have the time to investigate opportunities for technology innovation.

This is why we created the annual “Innovation Showcase” as an opportunity to bring to the attention of hard-pressed finance professionals what we consider to be leading innovations in core finance processes that could materially improve the way finance professionals work now and in the future.

While we value the special relationships we have developed with members through the virtual world of the LinkedIn Modern Finance Forum, we consider there is no substitute for meeting in person. We run regular networking events and dinners throughout the year in Europe and beyond.  We also support internationally other events with our latest research which is always in demand.
